The Gibson GA-80T Varitone is a rare late-1950s amplifier produced for a short period. It features the unique Vari-Tone circuit and an original Jensen P15P 15" Alnico speaker. The 15" format delivers extended low-end response, strong bass presence, and clear midrange definition, making it well suited for clean tones and light overdrive.
This 1960 example stands out for its condition. The tweed covering is original and very clean. The main electronic components (transformers, potentiometers, and circuit) remain original and intact. The amp has been professionally re-capped internally for reliability, with no visible modifications.
All component date codes are consistent (1959 transformers, 1959 speaker, 1960 pots), confirming early 1960 assembly.
