Gibson Barney Kessel Regular Cherry Sunburst 1968
Excellent original example of a 1968 Gibson Barney Kessel Regular in collector-grade condition. The electronics are fully untouched, with original solder joints and sealed Faraday cages intact. Both pickups are original and fully consistent with this level of originality.
The mismatched pickup covers (nickel neck, chrome bridge) are factory-original, occasionally seen on late 1960s Gibson production due to parts availability, not a replacement.
The Cherry Sunburst finish shows beautiful natural lacquer checking. The visible crack behind the headstock is strictly in the lacquer only, with no wood involvement — confirmed upon inspection. This is not a structural issue and not a headstock crack. A small side crack near the jack has been properly secured. No other structural issues.
Original ABR-1 bridge with nylon saddles.
Lightweight at 6.6 lbs, which is highly desirable for this model. Professionally refretted, with low action and excellent playability.
A less common Gibson archtop from the period, especially in such original and well-preserved condition.
